Leonidas C. Leonidou

Leonidas C. Leonidou is Professor of Marketing and International Business, as well as Coordinator of the Marketing specialization at the Department of Business and Public Administration of the University of Cyprus. He holds a degree in Business Administration with specialization in Accounting and a degree in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business. He also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a PhD in Marketing from the University of Bath. Immediately after completing his studies, he joined the Middle East Research Centre, where he worked for five years as an analyst/consultant on marketing issues for projects mainly related to the Middle East and Eastern Europe. He also served as General Director of the Marketing Research Centre (Greece), where he was responsible for a wide variety of research studies on issues related to marketing, socio-economic matters and politics in Greece. He has also worked as a visiting researcher at the Athens University of Economics and Business, Cardiff Business School, Leeds University Business School, University of Vaasa, Nord University and Aalborg University.

At the University of Cyprus, he served as Dean of the School of Economics and Management, member of the Senate and member of various Senate committees. He also served as Co-Director of the MBA programme. His research interests focus on issues related to international marketing, relationship marketing, strategic marketing, socially responsible marketing and marketing in emerging economies. He has personally designed and supervised dozens of studies in these areas, and their findings have been widely cited in the international literature. He has published more than 100 articles in academic and practitioner-oriented journals. He has also co-authored books with practical content, edited academic books, and published books on Marketing and International Business, as well as numerous book chapters.

He has been ranked among the top 1% of marketing researchers worldwide based on the cumulative citation impact index. He has also been ranked among the most prolific researchers in the fields of international business, international marketing and export/import activities. He has received twice the five-year Hans B. Thorelli Award of the American Marketing Association, as well as Best Paper Awards at international marketing conferences. He has also been recognized among the outstanding reviewers by the journals International Marketing Review, Journal of International Marketing and Journal of International Business Studies.

He has taught courses in Principles of Marketing, International Marketing, Strategic Marketing, Marketing Management and International Business, and has supervised dozens of undergraduate dissertations, postgraduate applied business studies and doctoral dissertations. He has offered various seminars to business executives on marketing issues and has been a speaker at international conferences in marketing and international business. He is a member of the editorial boards of the journals Industrial Marketing Management, International Marketing Review, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and Management International Review. Previously, he also served on the editorial boards of the journals Journal of Business Research, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management Studies and Journal of Strategic Marketing.
