The Young Scientist Award is conferred upon outstanding early-career scientists who have demonstrated exceptional achievement and made significant contributions to their field of research. The Award recognizes individuals associated with Cyprus whose work has contributed substantially to the advancement of science either in Cyprus or internationally.

2025 – Eleni Stavrinidou
Dr Eleni Stavrinidou is Associate Professor at Linköping University, Sweden, and Head of the Electronic Plants research group at the Laboratory of Organic Electronics. She studied Physics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and received her PhD in Organic Electronics from Mines Saint-Étienne, France.
Her research focuses on soft, conductive, and biocompatible organic materials that enable interfaces between electronic devices and biological tissues. Her publications in leading scientific journals, including Nature Materials, Nature Communications, and Science Advances, together with the award of a European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant, attest to her international standing and her significant contribution to scientific research.
The decision to confer the Award was taken at the 66th Plenary of the Cyprus Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts on 17 September 2025, following a recommendation by the Class of Sciences.
The Young Scientist Award is presented to outstanding scientists up to the age of forty who have demonstrated significant achievements and made notable contributions to their respective fields. Eligible candidates are citizens of the Republic of Cyprus, irrespective of their country of residence, as well as foreign nationals who are permanent residents of Cyprus.
