Charidemos Tsoukas (www.htsoukas.com) is Columbia Ship Management Professor of Strategic Management at the University of Cyprus and Distinguished Professor of Organizational Behaviour at Warwick Business School, University of Warwick, United Kingdom. He is Honorary Professor at the University of Sydney Business School and at Queensland University, Australia.
He initially studied Electrical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and Industrial Engineering at Cranfield University (United Kingdom). He obtained his PhD in the sociology of organizations from Manchester Business School (MBS) and worked at MBS, the University of Essex, the University of Strathclyde and ALBA Graduate Business School (Greece).
He has published extensively in many leading academic journals in his field. His publications can be found at https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=VuPk39kAAAAJ&hl=en. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Organization Studies (2003–2008) and has served on the Editorial Boards of several academic journals.
He has received the honorary title of Doctor of Science from the University of Warwick (2014) and the Best Researcher Award for 2016 from the Cyprus Institute for the Promotion of Research. He is Honorary Member of the European Group for Organization Studies (since 2016) and recipient of the Joan Martin Trailblazer Award from the Organization and Management Theory Division of the Academy of Management (2016). He is an International Member of the British Academy.
He is co-founder and co-organizer of the annual academic conferences International Symposium on Process Organization (PROS) and Colloquium on Philosophy and Organization Studies (PHILOS). He is co-editor of the series Perspectives on Process Organization Studies, published annually by Oxford University Press. He has co-edited several books, including The Sage Handbook of Process Organization Studies (with Ann Langley, 2017), London: Sage; Oxford Handbook of Organization Theory: Meta-theoretical Perspectives (with Christian Knudsen, Oxford University Press, 2003); and Philosophy and Organization Theory (with Robert Chia, Emerald, 2011).
He is the author of: Leadership as Masterpiece Creation: What Business Leaders Can Learn From the Humanities About Moral Risk-Taking, Cambridge, Mass.: MIT Press, 2024; Philosophical Organization Theory (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2019); Complex Knowledge: Studies in Organizational Epistemology (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2005); and If Aristotle Were CEO, Athens: Kastaniotis, 2012 (4th edition). He regularly comments on political and social issues in the Greek newspaper Kathimerini and in Cypriot media.
