Achilles C. Emilianides is Doctor of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Professor and Dean of the School of Law at the University of Nicosia. He is also a practising lawyer and Director of a law firm. He has been elected a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
He is President of the Royal Commonwealth Society Cyprus Branch and of the Centre for Scientific Dialogue and Research, and has served as President of the European Consortium on State and Church Research. He is a member of the Committee for the Revision of Civil Procedure Institutions, the Committee for the Establishment of Blockchain Technology in Cyprus, the Intellectual Property Dispute Resolution Authority, as well as numerous scientific committees and editorial boards of academic journals. He is also Publishing Adviser of The Cyprus Review and Editor of the Cyprus and European Law Review.
He has been honoured with the Annie Tsatsou Award and has participated in numerous funded research projects, including two Jean Monnet Centres of Excellence. He has been appointed expert on matters of Cypriot, European, and international law by the Attorney General of the Republic of Cyprus, and for many years represented the Republic of Cyprus as an expert in negotiations on European Union legislative instruments in the field of civil law. During the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2012, he served as Chair.
His scholarly work is taught at universities in Cyprus and abroad and has been discussed by Cypriot and foreign courts. He has also acted in several of the most prominent cases before the Cypriot courts. He has published more than 20 monographs and over 100 scholarly articles.
