Description
Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers significant opportunities to improve everyday life and transform a wide range of sectors, including education, healthcare, transportation, and industry. Through data analysis and automation, AI can enhance decision-making, productivity, and innovation. At the same time, however, it presents important challenges, including job displacement, the protection of personal data, and ethical and security issues associated with the use of algorithms and surveillance systems.
The Research Office for Artificial Intelligence is dedicated to the study and development of AI applications for intelligent cyber-physical systems, including energy networks, transportation systems, water distribution systems, and robotics. Particular emphasis will be placed on the development of intelligent monitoring and real-time decision-making methods aimed at enhancing the resilience, efficiency, and security of such systems. The Office will also promote collaboration with researchers, industry, and public-sector organisations in Cyprus and abroad.
A principal objective of the Research Office is to attract competitive research funding and to organise conferences and other scientific events in cutting-edge fields of Artificial Intelligence.
