Stavros S. Fotiou was born in Limassol in 1959. He studied Education at the Cyprus Pedagogical Academy and Theology at the School of Theology of the University of Athens, where he also completed his doctoral dissertation. Since 1994, he has been teaching at the Department of Education of the University of Cyprus, where he is currently Professor of Theology and Didactics. He is an author for the Hellenic Open University’s postgraduate programme “Studies in Orthodox Theology”.
His research interests include Theology, Religious Education, Teaching Methodology, Ethics, and Education for Life.
He is the author of 27 books and the scientific editor of 60 collective volumes. He has also published 100 articles in edited volumes and academic journals. His works have been translated into English, French, Italian, Russian, and Finnish.
In 1991, he was awarded a State Prize by the Republic of Cyprus for his book Alienation and Self-Knowledge.
