Stavros A. Zenios is Professor of Finance and Management Science at the University of Cyprus, Senior Member at the Wharton Financial Institutions Center of the University of Pennsylvania and External Member of the Bruegel think tank in Brussels. His research interests focus on financial risk management. He has published more than 100 articles in leading international journals on risk management, financial engineering and management science. His works have received honorary distinctions and he was awarded the EURO Excellence in Practice Award in 2006 for his work on private portfolio management. His book with Pat Harker, Performance of Financial Institutions (Cambridge University Press), was translated into Chinese, and in 1997 he received the INFORMS prize (HPA) for his book with Yair Censor, Parallel Optimization (Oxford University Press).
He served two terms as Rector of the University of Cyprus, where he was also the first Dean of the School of Economics and Management. He was also elected for two consecutive terms as President of the Rectors of the Universities of European Capitals (UNICA).
